Practice Policy
Coaches will email parents if practice is cancelled due to weather
Athletes are expected to come to practice on time and ready to swim. Swimmers should arrive 5-10 minutes before practice is to begin. This will allow them the time needed to get on caps and goggles.
Swimmers should also be prepared for dryland practices due to cold water/weather. Bring sneakers to every practice!
Cell phones are not allowed in the locker rooms and are discouraged on the pool deck. In general, we encourage kids to put their devices away and get to know their teammates. Summer friendships with teammates who attend different schools = one of our favorite side effects of joining the swim team! Parents can help facilitate a friendly, active environment by packing decks of cards, frisbees, and other low tech games for meets and practices.
The new policy is as follows: (starting June 23, 2025)
- Swimmers 10 and under must practice and compete with their specific age group.
- Swimmers who will turn 11 by September 30 may practice with the 11 & up group, if parents choose to do so.
- Swimmers may not switch between age groups unless special circumstances apply, with approval from the Swim Team Coordinator.
Code of Conduct
Swim Team Code of Conduct
Participation on the CHSC Swim Team, including access to Club property prior to the public opening time of 11:00 a.m., is a privilege, not a right. This Code of Conduct is intended to promote safety, sportsmanship, and respect, and shall be interpreted in a manner that preserves the authority of CHSC to protect its members and property.
By registering a swimmer for the CHSC Swim Team, parents/guardians and swimmers agree to comply with the following standards:
I. Swimmer Code of Conduct
A. Behavioral Expectations
Disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. Swimmers/divers may be subject to a three (3) strike progressive discipline process with increasing consequences for each incident.
Disrespectful behavior includes, but is not limited to:
- Destruction of property
- Inappropriate behavior toward staff, coaches, officials, opponents, or teammates
- Use of inappropriate language, particularly around younger athletes
- Disruptive behavior in or around locker rooms or bathrooms
- Conduct that jeopardizes the safety or well-being of others
B. Progressive Discipline
Consequences for inappropriate behavior may include:
First Strike: Verbal warning issued by a coach, Swim Team Coordinator, Pool Manager, or Club staff member.
Second Strike: Immediate removal from practice or activity. The swimmer must be picked up by a parent/guardian.
Third Strike: The swimmer may not attend any CHSC Swim Team activity without a parent or guardian present.
Depending on the severity of the conduct, swimmers may be suspended or dismissed from the team. Progressive discipline procedures may be used but are not required in situations involving serious misconduct or safety concerns.
C. Financial Responsibility
Parents/guardians are financially responsible for any destruction of CHSC property or the property of any host or opposing facility resulting from the intentional, reckless, or negligent conduct of their swimmer.
Determinations regarding responsibility and cost of repair or replacement shall be made in the sole discretion of CHSC.
D. Authority and Immediate Action
Nothing in this Code of Conduct limits the authority of the Pool Manager, lifeguards, Swim Team Coordinator, coaches, or the CHSC Board to take immediate action, including suspension or removal from Club property or team activities, when deemed necessary to protect the safety, welfare, or property of the Club or its members.
